Founded in 2022, the Indiana Fire Investigation Task Force (IFITF) was established through the consolidation of the Central Indiana Fire Investigation Task Force and the Marion County Arson Task Force. IFITF exists to strengthen collaboration among public agencies, private entities, and key stakeholders while advancing the professionalism of fire investigation across Indiana. The Task Force provides high-quality training and education through regularly scheduled meetings that include focused instructional components aligned with the requirements of NFPA 1033, ensuring investigators remain current in applicable job performance requirements and essential investigative knowledge. In addition, IFITF provides professional support and specialized resources to member departments and jurisdictions during fire and explosive incidents—serving in an assistive role, should the need arise. Through expert guidance, advanced equipment, and coordinated collaboration, IFITF is committed to enhancing investigative accuracy, efficiency, and the pursuit of justice while fully respecting the authority and leadership of the requesting agency.
